Knowing Jesus

Background

How to Begin a Relationship with God

If you feel a desire to know God, it’s a sign that the Holy Spirit is already at work in your heart. The next steps aren’t about checking off tasks but realizing what’s already been done for you.

The Bible tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). God is holy, and we are not. Since we cannot reach Him through our efforts, He reached out to us by sending His Son, Jesus Christ.

Knowing Jesus

“At just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly… While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:6-8)

Trusting Him

Jesus, the Son of God, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. You are saved when you acknowledge this sacrifice and accept His gift of grace.

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).

Here’s a sample prayer you can pray:

“Dear God, I have sinned and fallen short of Your perfect standard. I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for my sins, and I want to turn from my sins and follow You. I trust You as my Savior and ask You to lead my life. Thank You for Your love and for welcoming me into Your family. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

This is just the beginning of a new life in Christ!
